I am familiar with managing project from the beginning to the construction period. Furthermore, I am able to achieve this with Revit.

site management

Due to my experience of growing up in a sub-tropical region and the dissertation I am working on currently, I am familiar with combining plants and paving to mitigate overheating.

I am familiar with designing water filtration wetland systems for recreation and agriculture.

I am familiar with how to work with architects and other suppliers due to my previous work experience as an assistant architect, Moreover, I am familiar with house design.

Leeyuan's performance was significantly improved gradually through his effort and became excellent in the Architectural Design Studio II, III, and Graduate Project Design (Thesis), in which all his works were distinguished in the classes. I was one of the critics of his thesis project and was very impressed by his thoughtfulness and enthusiasm in ecological and sustainable design and beautiful spatial organisation.

Mingkang Liang,

Associate Professor/ Chairman 2010-2013

Dept. of Architecture

Ming Chung University

Leeyuan has adapted extremely well to the completely contrasting climate and culture of Manchester as well as the very different approach of the MLA. He has shown himself to be not only hard-working but also a good listener and very quick to catch on to new ideas. He has also proved to be a good member of the group, working well with other students and responding well to challenges. The work he has produced is of a very high standard, showing a good command of a range of communication skills, excellent design thinking and a comprehensive understanding of key theoretical and technical issues. I would recommend him highly to any future employers

Ian Fisher,

Senior Lecturer

Manchester School of Architecture

Leeyuan is a thoughtful student, with excellent design skills His previous education in architecture has provided a foundation for a very good understanding in how to utilise theoretical and creative practice in the development of his design ideas. He is also both imaginative and technically rigorous in his attention to detail, when resolving aspects of these ideas. I think overall he is a very strong student and I would recommend him for any position that he is applying for in the future.

ABOUT

My name is Leeyuan Ko, I’m currently doing my master's degree in landscape architecture at Manchester Metropolitan University (a.k.a) Manchester school of architecture. I gained my bachelor degree in architecture in 2014 and worked as an assistant architect and assistant landscape architect for two years.

My projects during the period of architecture school always focused on introducing the space of architecture to the surrounding urban area. Moreover, I have strongly motivated by the issue of sustainability. Therefore, I believe the role of landscape architect is more suitable for me than architect. However, due to my experience of being an assistant landscape architect after my graduation from architecture school, I have learned how to work with architects and other suppliers. Moreover, I am familiar with residential housing design by Revit and application of planning approval.

I gained experience of how to manage a project from the landscape practice, such as how to win a job from the client at the beginning of the project by using quick 3D visuals to gain more credit from the client or having the appropriate attitude to educate the client. I learned how to choose appropriate types of paving and plants directly from the construction site, in terms of keeping the cost under budget, using suitable materials to adapt sub-tropical weather or more extreme condition, for example, typhoon. Learning directly from the construction site has also given me the ability to react quickly to an unexpected situation that could happen on the site and have a better understanding of the structure systems. Finally, I completed numbers of gardening projects on balconies and this experience has given me the ability to design a removable garden.

, I have been focusing on the issues which could happen in (sub)tropical region, such as, lack of water resources, water degreeBased on the experience from architecture study and knowledge from the landscape practice, I decided to gain a master's degree, in order to develop a greater skill in sustainable landscape design. During this filtration and mitigation of overheating. Therefore, I have developed a series of projects which named the EcoSTORM. It is a combination of two projects, including the FilTRATER+ and the Cli-Mate. The FilTRATER+ project is a multi-functional sewage extension wetland system which aims to increase the cleaning function of the existing sewage treatment facility and transform it into a multi-functional park by integrating suitable functions, such as, recreation, floodplain and agriculture. The Cli-Mate project is a parametric model built by Rhino and Grasshopper. It provides instinctive 2D diagrams directly in Rhino which suggests where and what type of paving and plants to locate in any design projects regardless of site conditions. The project is divided into three phases, the first phase focuses on literature review and research, the second phase is about running the tests and building model, the final phase is to apply the model to a design project to see how it could really help during a design project. The Cli-Mate helps designers to create a physically comfortable environment in (sub)tropical climates, in order words, the Cli-Mate enables designers to control the climate. It could be the designer's best mate and make the designers the best mate of their 'Client' as well.
